Yes, an interesting read and sad for Mahlah as she must have found it difficult to fit in.

Re grandparents of Jesse Homer, do you mean parents of Jeston Homer? They were Joseph Holmer (Bpt: 13 April 1721 at St Mary's, K'ford) who married Mary Cartwright on 30 December 1741 at St Mary's, Kingswinford.

Children: -

Ambrose Homer Baptised: 27 April 1746 - Buried: 4 May 1746 at St Mary's, Kingswinford

Jeston Homer Baptised: 9 Apr 1749 at St Mary's, Kingswinford, Staffordshire, England. Jesson, son of Joseph & Mary Holmer, baptised. Page: 107 of St Mary's, Kingswinford Parish Registers.

John Homer Baptised: 15 April 1753 at St Mary's, Kingswinford. Page 125 and buried on 8th May 1754.

Looks like I got interupted at this point or there weren't anymore children... Will need to double check this...

This is what I can't understand or connect

We have traced Mahlah, also known sometimes as Amelia, back through her parents Jesse and Hannah who married in Halesowen on 30 June 1820; to Jesse's parents Jason and Nancy, and Hannah's parents Barnabas and Hannah; to William and Hannah Homer (the grandparents of both Jesse and Hannah, for they were cousins), who married in Kingswinford, a neighbouring parish to Cradley, in about 1755; and to William's parents Richard and Elizabeth, also of Kingswinford.

Am I reading this right, it's saying Jesse and Hannah's grandparents are William and Hannah but Jesse's father Jeston has father Joseph and Barnabas has father William so it can't be right

Please would it be possible for you to explain why it can't be right? I can see that Jesse and Hannah were cousins.

I can only find one baptism for Jeston, which was 9th April 1749 at St Mary's, Kingswinford to parents: Joseph (1721-1789) and Mary Holmer, nee Cartwright (1723-?) so far.

Having had a look at other Trees, some have put down Jeston as being born on 23 Feb 1745 but when I clicked on their baptism, it came up as Jesse instead of Jeston: -

Jeston (Jesse) Homer 1745–1804
BIRTH 23 FEB 1745 • Kingswinford, Staffordshire, England
DEATH 1804 • Brierley Hill, Kingswinford, Staffordshire, England
Birth: 23 Feb 1745 • Kingswinford,Stafford,England

Their actual baptism shows this: -
Name Jesse Homer
Gender Male
Baptism Date 23 Feb 1745
Baptism Place Kingswinford,Stafford,England
Father James Homer
Mother Esther
FHL Film Number 417203

If Jetson and Barnabas were brothers they would have the same father.
Jestons father is Joseph Barnabas father is William

Do you have evidence that Jeston and Barnabas were brothers?

I'm going to go back to looking up other potential baptisms when I get back from shopping.
