Rob- re your reference to Accles and Pollock playing cricket against Worcestershire in the 1950's, I played in those matches and actually got Don Kenyon out for 39!!- Don Baker topped score for us with 46- we actually played the county three times in benefit matches and I played in the lot- still have the team photos

Hi I am researching my Peplow family tree. Joseph William Peplow moved his family from Hockley, Birmingham in 1914 to join Accles & Pollock in Oldbury.
He recieived a gold pocket watch for 25 years service in 1939. They lived then in Market Street, Oldbury. Some of his children followed him to work at A& P, many getting 25 year awards.
Has anyone memories of Harold, Alfred, Leonard & Alice (my mother) Peplow.
Regards Vic

Fascinating to hear the stories about A&P and memories of people who worked there!

My great grandfather (Thomas Steventon) was "Works Policeman" or "Gate Keeper" for A&P. Not sure of the dates when he did this, that's still part of my list of things to find out about him! Attached is a photo of him in his Works Policeman's uniform for A&P. Would be curious to know if anyone remembers him (good or bad! :-) ) or can tell me how I would go about finding out more about the time he spent at A&P.

I do know that he lived in a property owned by A&P - Whiteheath Villa. This was compulsory purchased by the council so they could knock it down and make way for Lion Farm housing estate.

Look forward to hearing from anyone on the topic!

Kindest Regards

Lee

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Please note!

Since the recent changeover, we seem to have aquired a lot of 'gobbledegook' within Dennis's initial post.
Please bear with us, we'll get it sorted asap
