What was he?

Post by cheryl »

My ggg Grandfather's occupation on his daughter's marriage certificate was shown as 'Glaziers diamond manufacturer' He lived from 1785 to 1837 in London.
What do you think was his occupation (I don't myself think he was a diamond trader, although my mother is convinced he was).
Thanks for any help

He made the industrial diamonds used on glass cutters and drill bits and other devices.

Basically they would put carbon under very high pressure.

You can get yourself made into a diamond after you die.

They cremate you and then squish you into diamond.

If you are going to get any relative dones, make sure htey eat lots just before they kick the bucket.

Get bigger diamonds that way :P

I think he made glaziers' diamonds :-)

If you go to Google Books http://books.google.co.uk/books
and stick in "Sharratt & Newth Diamond Glaziers Co" you will get some references. One is back to 1822 so about the right period.

Added: I don't agree that he made artificial diamonds as it was too early for that.

Just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to be made into a diamond?
