Re: The Largest ever Loss for The London Fire Brigade

We finish the project where the whole story started, with the 34th and final biography of ALL the 34 Firemen and Firewomen who died at the Old Palace School Bombing during the Blitz in WW2. This is the story of my Great Aunt, Winifred Alexandra Peters, nee Wootton. It has been a long and emotional j...

Re: The Largest ever Loss for The London Fire Brigade

Having shared many phone calls with the Great Niece of AFS Fireman Frank James Endean and also a few tears over these last few months, I am both deeply honoured and extremely humbled to share Frank's story, this one was really personal to me........

Re: The Largest ever Loss for The London Fire Brigade

One of the youngest Firemen to lose their life at the Old Palace School and another family devastated by the tragedy of that fateful night in April 1941. A young man who left Dublin for the bright lights of London only to see his dreams shattered by the German Luftwaffe.

Re: The Largest ever Loss for The London Fire Brigade

I have been slowly adding biographies of the 34 firefighters who died and slowly adding their stories and pictures. The last biography just published was without a doubt, the toughest and most emotional story so far, that I have written about the 34 firefighters who lost their lives. I urge you to r...

Re: The Largest ever Loss for The London Fire Brigade

I have built a new commemorative website dedicated to the memory of the 34 firefighters who died here. It's in its infancy but will be gradually populated over the coming months.

My Family History in Numbers

I am not normally a numbers geek, but once I started analysing my tree data I got hooked on the information that I was discovering and it became a little bit obsessive, I learnt lots of new info that I would not have discovered, if I hadn't run the analysis. So if you are a numbers fan or not, it ma...

Researching a WW1 Soldier

Like many of you, I have a large number of men who served during WW1, some fortunately survived, but many were among those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country try and never returned home. I have researched their lives over the years and have put together a few tips and ideas for anybo...

WW1 Medals Framed

I have finally had my Great-Grandfathers Medals Framed, the finished frame looks amazing and it was well worth taking the time to do it properly, the end results looks wonderful.

In memory of John Edwin Barnes, Essex Regiment, who died at Gallipoli, 25th April 1915.
